COVID-19 Position Statement
Posted: Tuesday 13th, July 2021 Time: 01:43:25 pm
The Government has announced the lifting of all limits on social contact and how many people can meet in any setting.
The risks from COVID-19 have not disappeared and people need to manage the risks to themselves and to others as the country learns to live with the virus.Importantly, it currently remains a legal requirement for people to self-isolate if they test positive or are told to do so by NHS "Test and Trace".
Individuals may choose to limit the close contact they have with those they do not usually live with to reduce the risk of catching or spreading COVID-19, particularly if they are clinically extremely vulnerable.
It is important to respect and be considerate to those who may wish to take a more cautious approach.
The Government is continuing to monitor data to ensure there is no danger of the NHS facing unsustainable pressure and will review the Coronavirus Act and remaining regulations in the early autumn to consider which requirements need to continue thereafter.
The Officers and Committee of the Richmond Dog Show Society are committed to staging the 2021 show on 10-12 September 2021 albeit in full compliance with any regulations and/or guidance that may be introduced prior to or remain in place at the time of the show.
Richmond Championship Dog Show 2021 - Covid-19 Restrictions

The Government has published a Roadmap out of Lockdown that aims to support a return, on or after 21 June, to the holding of large out-door events. We are conscious that the holding of such events may remain conditional upon having measures in place to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Officers and Committee are liaising closely with Loseley Estates and Guildford Borough Council to jointly define both the level of risk and agree an appropriate risk mitigation strategy to enable the holding of a show which is "Covid-compliant" and financially viable at Loseley Park on 10-12 September 2021.
There will be difficulties in sourcing some of the facilities, for example benching, and wet weather rings, normally provided at the Society's shows that are likely to have a significant impact on the format, layout and running of the show.
A further announcement will be made once the Government has confirmed the date (currently 21 June) for deployment of Step 4 of the Roadmap out of Lockdown and the extent to which measures intended to control the transmission of Covid-19 will continue to be required.
Richmond Championship Dog Show 2020 - Covid-19 Restrictions

The Officers and Committee of the Richmond Dog Show Society have noted the strong recommendation made by the Kennel Club, on 13th May, that in the light of the continued restrictions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic that all forthcoming events until the end of September should be cancelled.
Logistical uncertainties including availability of the venue, the ability of contractors and suppliers to support the planning, setting up and running of the show, the willingness or otherwise of spectators, exhibitors, judges, stewards, helpers and trade stand holders to risk possible exposure to the virus, the provision of hotel accommodation, and the requirement to adhere to social distancing at the show have also been considered./p>
In the light of the above the Officers and Committee have concluded that it would be contrary to government policy and Kennel Club guidance and socially irresponsible to continue with plans to hold the Society's forthcoming 2020 championship show on 11th-13th September.
We fully understand and regret the sense of disappointment and sadness this announcement will cause to our members, sponsors, judges, exhibitors, stewards, and commercial trade partners. All our appointed judges for the 2020 show will be contacted and informed of the situation and offered the same appointment at a subsequent show.
We wish all our members and supporters continued health and safety in the wake of these unprecedented effects on lifestyle and socialisation that are proving so restrictive and frustrating to so many of us and look forward to being able to welcome you all at our show to be held on Friday, 10th to Sunday, 12th September 2021.

The Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to the attention of exhibitors, trade stand holders, press and visitors.
It is a condition of all those attending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or made without express written permission of the Organisers. The taking of photographs in the show venue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and internet-sites for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs of general views of the Show, provided that these are for private use. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.
